(Endwalker launch MSQ spoilers, but fairly mild ones)Azer'li was born in an isolated village deep within the Black Shroud, far from any of the major settlements... and far from those who would brand those who hunted for sustenance as "poachers." The young Azer'li, however, dreamed of one day becoming a hero, his imagination fueled by a handful of books traded to him by the merchant Luluno Luno. In retrospect, she doubtlessly knew their value far outweighed the pretty rocks and dried flowers the miquo'te child offered in exchange for their riches, but she had taken a liking to him and took no small joy in sharing knowledge and stories alike. The last time he saw her was two months before the Calamity, and his inquiries into her fate have so far proven fruitless.Upon coming of age-- and thus being turned out of his home village, never to return-- Azer'li struck out for the distant, storied land of Vylbrand that he'd read of in his books and, in time, managed to claw his way there, working odd jobs until he could afford passage aboard a ferry. He immediately applied to the Arcanists' Guild upon his arrival. While disappointed by the large gaps in his education, the guild's second noted his keen intellect and vast enthusiasm and accepted him. He studied enthusiastically and sought to patch the gaps in his knowledge, and in time he set out to become an adventurer; he chose to join the Immortal Flames, having grown weary of Limsa Lominsa's ever-present damp.Azer'li was assigned to the contingent that went to Garlemald in order to assist in their liberation; he was still stationed there when blasphemous creatures born of terror attacked. A faint voice called to him as he saw the heavens fall, and ever since he has had an uncanny ability to sense impending threats, albeit only a few moments in advance. This new ability and his frustration over his limited ability to protect his allies have led Azer'li to begin to develop a new application of arcanima focused on defense.

TacticianAzer'li's Tactician job is a specialized variant of arcanist, somewhat similar to Alphinaud's Academician specialization, although it trades a great deal of healing prowess for stronger shields and considerable personal defenses. It is focused on barriers and battlefield control, directly defending allies and hampering the attacks of enemies alike. Its spells are primarily aligned with the elements of water and ice. Azer'li uses a unique Sapphire Carbuncle that's considerably more durable than a standard Emerald Carbuncle. In terms of party roles, Tactician can function as a secondary tank or barrier-style healer.
